No Series in 2016

No Series in 2016

P With a heavy heart I am sorry to say that I will not be holding a Series in 2016. I’ve been thinking about this literally every day for the last few months, trying to justify holding the Series. I feel an obligation to the racing community, to all those that supported the Series through the years. At the same time there are things outside of racing that have come up and are making it impossible for me to commit the time and energy required to hold a good event. The tipping point came recently when I had to choose whether to pay a couple thousand dollars for insurance, workman’s comp, unemployment, and other fees, all necessary to have Carpe Diem Racing do business as a promoting entity. At that time I realized that, no, I can’t justify it. In the mean time I’d like to thank Aetna, Verge Sport, and Reaper for re-upping in 2016. They had faith in me such that they wanted to support me even as I struggled with the idea of just holding the Series. I do not know if I will be able to do it in 2017. Right now that’s a bit too far away to think about. Having said that I’ll put this out there: if there is someone (person, club, etc) who wants to pick up the reins, please let me know. I’ll offer what help I can. I’m sorry to start your season with this news. Nonetheless I hope that you all have a good season. Enjoy the ride,...

Overall GC Rules, or “How it works”

Note: Podium presentations after each race for the Cat 4s, Women, M45, Cat 3-4, and P123. Please stick around after your race near the registration trailer, we simply do not have the time/staff to redo pictures. Individual General Contender rules are as follows: If your number is not legible, you will not be placed. When tied in points, the higher scored racer in the last held race is ranked higher. Points are awarded as follows: First place: 7 points Second place: 5 points Third place: 4 points Fourth place: 3 points Fifth place: 2 points Sixth place: 1 point (Points are awarded as follows: 7, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1). On the final week of the Series, first place gets 10 points, and the remaining points amounts are moved down one place.  So seventh place gets 1 point. (Points are awarded as follows for final week only: 10, 7, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1). The promoter has the right to correct mistakes right up until the awards are given out. The Aetna Nutmeg Spring Series overall is not an official USAC ranking, it is an informal “within the race” competition. As such, standard protest rules and such do not apply. Remember, though, that your official USAC placings are reported to USAC per USAC rules. So if you think you were placed incorrectly, speak up! However, if you offer compelling proof that you were not placed correctly (photos or videos), we will correct your placings as it pertains to your overall GC. Team Keep in mind that Team GC is determined by the top 3 riders of the team at the end of the...
